Digit Span Test Printable — Number Sequence Cards

Unlimited fresh digit span cards for offline practice: each card lists random digit sequences of growing length with forward and backward recall drills, newly randomized every time. Pick how many cards per sheet and print straight from your browser — unlike static PDF downloads.

How to use the printed cards

The cards work best with two people. The reader covers the answer column and reads one sequence aloud at a steady pace — one digit per second — while the listener repeats it back: rows marked F in the same order, rows marked B in reverse order. Swap roles after each card.

Each card climbs from 3-digit to 9-digit sequences, so the difficulty ramps exactly like the online test. Mark a ✓ or ✗ in the score column per row; the listener’s digit span is the longest length completed correctly. Two misses on a row = stop, same rule as the online staircase.

Solo practice works too: read a row once, cover it, write the sequence from memory in the blank, then check. Print a fresh sheet each session — the generator never repeats, so memorizing sequences is impossible.

Frequently asked questions

How do I run a digit span drill on paper?

One person reads a sequence aloud at one digit per second; the other repeats it — same order for rows marked F, reverse order for rows marked B. Cover the printed digits so the listener cannot peek. Start at the 3-digit rows and work down; stop after two misses and note the longest correct length.

How do I score a printed digit span card?

Mark each row ✓ or ✗ in the score column. The longest sequence length recalled correctly is the digit span for that card — track it separately for forward (F) and backward (B) rows, and compare sheets week by week. There is no official paper norm; your own trend is the meaningful measure.

Are these printable digit span cards really free?

Yes — unlimited generation and printing, no sign-up, no watermark, no download gate. Every sheet is randomized in your browser, so you can print a different set for each person or each day of the week.
