Stroop Test Printable — Free Color-Word Cards

Unlimited fresh Stroop cards for offline practice: each 6×6 card mixes congruent and incongruent color words, newly randomized every time. Pick how many cards per sheet and print straight from your browser — unlike static PDF downloads.

How to use the printed cards

The rule is the same as the online test: name the ink color of each word, not the word itself. Read left to right, top to bottom, as fast as you can while staying accurate. Have a partner time you with a phone stopwatch and count the errors — write both in the corner blanks.

About half the words on every card match their ink (congruent) and half conflict (incongruent), so the interference stays unpredictable. Print a fresh sheet each session: the generator never repeats, so memorizing positions is impossible.

One practical note: the ink color is the test, so you need a color printer (or a color-capable print shop). Colored text prints with default browser settings — no need to enable background graphics.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a color printer for Stroop cards?

Yes — the whole point of the exercise is the mismatch between the word and its ink color, so the sheet must show colored text. Colored text prints with normal browser settings; you do not need to enable background graphics. A black-and-white printout turns every card into plain reading practice.

How do I score a printed Stroop card?

Time how long naming all 36 ink colors takes with a stopwatch, and count the errors. Write both in the corner blanks and compare sheets week by week. There is no official paper norm for this format — your own trend across sessions is the meaningful measure.

Are these printable Stroop cards really free?

Yes — unlimited generation and printing, no sign-up, no watermark, no download gate. Every sheet is randomized in your browser, so you can print a different set for each person or each day of the week.
