How this reaction time test works

Classic mode follows the standard simple-reaction-time format: the panel turns red and you wait; after a random delay of 1.5–4.5 seconds it flashes green, and you click (or press Space/Enter) as fast as possible. Clicking before green is a false start — it does not count, and the round restarts. Five valid rounds make one test, scored as median, best and average time. The median is the headline number because a single lucky or sloppy click cannot skew it.

Moving-target mode — our exclusive variant — keeps the same wait-for-green rule but places the green bullseye at a random position on the panel instead of always dead center. Your eyes have to find it before your hand can answer, so it trains visual search and reaction speed as one compound skill, closer to sports and gaming situations than the fixed version.

An honest note on your numbers: every web timer includes device and screen lag on top of your biology — Human Benchmark reports roughly 30 ms of typical lag on a desktop, and mobile taps run slower than mouse clicks — so compare like with like (same device, same mode) and judge your trend, not a single click. How to take the test
